Selina Stanford, a former oil and gas corporate attorney, launched Frock Shop in the Summer of 2019 in Houston, Texas as a clothing and accessory pop-up. Her focus, creating the Magic that comes with bringing people together and being in community, with a side of good fashion. Operating out of her home and attending local shopping markets, Selina worked hard to show her three girls what entrepreneurship looked like. When the pandemic hit, Selina knew people would need connection and community more than ever so, in May of 2020, she took a leap of faith and created a website for online shopping and leased a small, 500-square-foot space; and her team of Magic Makers grew.
Frock Shop's social media following grew quickly and customers of all ages came to shop in person from every part of town. In December 2021, she opened a new 1900 square foot space in the heart of Memorial at I-10 and Piney Point. Frock Shop is a fun, interactive space with a heart for the people that come through the doors. Customers will usually find a fun pop up event or happening as Selina loves to host other creators and makers as often as possible. As lead buyer, Selina aims to find beautiful and easy to wear pieces that inspire a life where an impromptu dance party is always a possibility. Her favorite brands include Ulla Johnson, The Great and Hunter Bell but you'll most likely find her in a Carolina K kaftan. She also loves carrying brands that fit the current trends at approachable price points.
While the past 3 years have been fast-paced, it has been so fun to include her husband and three girls in the business venture. Selina is especially proud of the neighborhood shopping experience that her team of Magic Makers has helped create. Frock Shop is doing exactly what Selina dreamed, and it’s now a place of community where three generations often shop together and friends meet!
