Jon and Robbin Rose started the website www.MyMusicFolders.com in 2002 with the help of their good friend and webmaster Tim, as a way to help fund the Missoula Community Chorus (which they were crazy enough to start in 2001 (www.MissoulaChorus.org). As selling music folders blossomed into a full-time endeavor, they had the opportunity to work with a high-end manufacturer and designer to develop choir robes, which they sell on the sister website, www.MyChoirRobes.com.
Jon and Robbin have been working musicians all of their adult lives. They were always musicians, and sometimes they were “working” musicians. Jon was in a punk band (well, maybe “ska” – he has a trombone and is not afraid to use it!) that traveled the Northwest U.S. in the mid-80s. Robbin sang light opera and musicals in summer theaters for several seasons. Later endeavors included Jon’s 18-year stint singing in a Madrigal group, drinking port wine while wearing tights, and singing catches. Robbin spent that time working for churches, singing jazz standards on the weekends, and getting a graduate degree in Music Thanatology (prescriptive music for people at the end of life).
At home, Jon and Robbin have three pianos, three trombones, two guitars, an accordion, a 31-string harp, two musical daughters, and a dog who can pitch match! There may even be a YouTube video of Zuzu, the singing Pomeranian…
A few other notable characters help get the folders out the door. Sara and Michael are our handy typesetting experts for the music folder embossing. They’re definitely a ray of sunshine you will enjoy speaking to if you phone in, and friendly faces we enjoy seeing every day.
