It doesn’t matter if you’re going for a night out or heading somewhere for the weekend, no one likes to pay more than they have to. And you don’t have to. With a Railcard you’ll get 1/3 off your rail travel and special offers and rewards from our partners.

Plus, we now have a 16-17 Saver. Like a Railcard but with bigger discounts for anyone aged 16 or 17.

What are the different Railcards?

The Railcards available include:

Some Railcards will give you a discounted fare and some will also cover the people travelling with you. Railcards save you 1/3 off most adult fares and 60% off a kids fare (for Family & Friends Railcard and Network Railcard only).. However, different Railcards have different eligibility criteria, so check whether you qualify before you apply.

How much do Railcards cost?

1-year Railcards are priced between £20 – £30.

There’s no limit to the number of times you can use your Railcard, although some Railcards can only be used outside of peak times.

Most Railcards can be purchased at railcard.co.uk or at National Rail staffed ticket offices. You can book your train tickets online or in person, but in order to qualify for your discount you must be able to present your Railcard during your journey. Failing to do this will mean you have to pay full price for your journey.

Aged 16 or 17?

If you’re aged 16 or 17, you can now enjoy 50% off standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Advance and Season tickets, helping you save money on shopping trips, days out to the coast, travel to college or weekend festivals – as many times as you like.

A 16-17 Saver is just £30 and is valid for one year or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first.

Download your 16-17 Saver to your phone with the Railcard app or keep your 16-17 Saver in your wallet to get half price tickets across the National Rail network (excluding travel on ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper services).
