About Vignette Brush Co.

Founded by a union film and television makeup artist who is also an award-winning oil painter and published author, VIGNETTE Brush Co. is an independent Los Angeles-based makeup brush company that creates tools by combining artistry, precision, and quality.

Each Vignette brush is the result of careful development through professional practice, where tools must perform consistently under daily use. Every detail, from balance and structure to material selection, is guided by function. Bristle types vary intentionally throughout the collection, chosen specifically for how they hold, apply, and control product. The result favors thoughtful craftsmanship and durability, creating brushes that feel refined and dependable. Each brush is carefully handcrafted by brush artisans to ensure quality and longevity.

Vignette brushes are cruelty-free, designed in Los Angeles, and individually hand-assembled in New York with components from a family-owned manufacturer in Thailand. Our materials include wood sourced through national reforestation programs, and recyclable packaging.

A vignette is both a visual technique and a moment within a story. In art and photography, it refers to the soft framing of an image that guides the viewer’s focus toward the subject. In storytelling, a vignette captures a brief but meaningful scene, or a small part that helps define the larger whole. At Vignette Brush Co., we design brushes with this same approach: tools that help artists control focus, build dimension, and refine detail. Each brush supports the creative process with precision, intention, and respect for craftsmanship.
