Meet the Founder: Gemma Ogston
Gemma Ogston is the driving force behind Mama Shrooms — a former addiction counsellor turned plant-based chef, cookbook author, and wellness advocate . Growing up in a large household, she started cooking at just eight years old and later spent a decade supporting individuals through recovery, understanding the deep connection between food and mental health .
Gemma discovered the benefits of functional mushrooms over seven years ago while working as a retreat chef in Ibiza, and after studying, writing, and teaching about them for years, she launched Mama Shrooms to simplify wellness routines — especially for herself during perimenopause . She’s also an ambassador for YoungMinds UK, passionately advocating for teen mental health, and was inspired to launch a Teen Blend and hot chocolate blend to support young people’s wellbeing .
