Attribution Policy
Commissions are paid on qualifying sales made during the Cookie Period through an Authorized Channel. A Publisher is eligible for commission if the sale occurs on the Article website within thirty (30) days, provided they were the first referrer. If a user clicks multiple Affiliate Links, the commission is awarded to the first clicked link that leads to a qualifying sale.
Paid Search Policies
(Sample) Paid Search Policies:
- Publishers are not permitted to bid on any variation of the article.com brand trademark, at any time, in any search engine. This includes, but is not limited to: Article, article.com, www.article.com, articlecom, wwwarticlecom. Any additional misspellings or variations of those referred to herein are also prohibited. Publishers must add "name " and "name product" as negative keyword matches on any generic terms. Publishers are not permitted to use trademarked terms in their display URL. Publishers that violate these terms and conditions risk deactivation from the program and loss in commissions. The use of toolbars or browser plug-ins for the purpose of applying a cookie or redirecting traffic is prohibited. Any publishers found to be using said functionalities and marketing tools will be removed from the program without notice, with all pending transactions and respective accrued commissions reversed based on their locking date.
- Publishers may not bid on registered trademarks, or registered URLs (including variations, abbreviations, or misspellings of same) of Article. Publishers may not bid on "Article+coupon" or "Article+Coupon Code". You will not use direct links to any www.article.com site, use a registered “websitename.com” domain, or term “official site” when referring to Article brand in search marketing. Permission to use the Article brand, or bid on trademark terms, may be obtained with
expressed written permission only.
- Direct linking to article.com is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with our search policies may lead to the removal of access to the program and the reversal of any commissions.
Personalized Advertising
Legal Restrictions. Ads must comply with the law without exception.
Personal Hardships. Ads shouldn’t target Customers in ways that exploit their difficulties or struggles. Identity and Belief. Ads shouldn’t target Customers based on categories prone to systemic discrimination or unfair stigmas.
Sexual Interests. Ads shouldn’t target Customers based on inherently private sexual interests or experiences.
Access to Opportunities. Ads shouldn’t limit access to opportunities by leveraging unfair societal biases when targeting Customers with specific content categories.
Misrepresentation
Scamming Customers by concealing or misstating information about Article’s product or business.Examples include the below non-exhaustive list:
- Impersonating brands or businesses by referencing or modifying the brand content in the ads, URL, destinations or misrepresenting yourself as the brand or business in user interactions
- Enticing Customers to part with money or information through a fictitious business that lacks the qualifications or capacity to provide the advertised products or services
- Making misleading statements, obscuring, or omitting material information about your identity, affiliations, or qualifications
- Providing an inaccurate business name or business name that does not clearly represent the advertised business or disambiguates from similar businesses in the ad or user interaction
Trademarks
Infringement of Third-Party Rights.
The Publisher represents, warrants, and covenants that, in performing the Services under this Agreement, it shall not create, design, develop, use, distribute, or deliver any Work Product or other materials that infringe, misappropriate, or otherwise violate the proprietary rights of any third party. Such proprietary rights include, without limitation, patents, industrial designs, design patents, database rights, trademarks, copyrights, confidential information, moral rights, trade secrets, or any other intellectual property or proprietary rights recognized under applicable law.
If Publisher becomes aware of any actual, suspected, or alleged infringement or third-party claim related to the Work Product, Publisher shall immediately notify Article in writing and cooperate in good faith to mitigate any potential legal exposure. Publisher shall also, at its own cost and expense, take all reasonable steps to promptly remedy such infringement, including but not limited to, obtaining necessary licenses, modifying the Work Product to be non-infringing, or replacing it with functionally equivalent non-infringing materials.
Furthermore, Publisher shall fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Article, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to any breach of this provision.
Promotional Links
Utilization of Affiliate Promotional Links.
1. We hereby grant to you limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable license to use our Affiliate Promotional Links for placement on your site without abridgment, embellishment, or pre-approved modification for the sole and exclusive purpose of referring potential Customers to Article. We reserve the right to revoke this license to use the Affiliate Promotional Links, in whole or part, at any time.
2. We reserve the right to require you to modify your use of the Affiliate Promotional Links following review of your site. We further reserve the right to request updates to content that reflect the brand’s current product catalog and pricing. Publishers must update content within 48 hours of receipt of update. If a product goes out of stock or unavailable, Publishers may update with a similar item in the same category.
3. If we issue formal policies and rules in connection with usage of the Affiliate Promotional Links, you agree to promptly conform your use of the Affiliate Promotional Links to said policies and rules, as amended from time to time.
4. You may not use Affiliate Promotional Links to market, promote, or endorse the goods, services, and/or cause of any other individual or entity or to otherwise benefit any third party, save and except for your Referrals.
5. You agree that you shall not bid on, register or purchase search engine keywords, domain names, or other identifying search terms or titles that are similar to the trademarks owned or controlled by Article, or by any third party to promote your participation in the Program.
6. In utilizing the Affiliate Promotional Links, you agree that you will cooperate fully with Article in order to establish and maintain the consistency and integrity of such Affiliate Promotional Links as they may be modified, enhanced, expanded, curtailed or eliminated from time to time by us, in our sole and unlimited discretion.
7. You acknowledge that, by participating in the Program and/or using any of the Affiliate Promotional Links, Article may receive information from or about visitors to your site to track Referrals.
Link Behavior
Do not deceive, confuse or otherwise degrade the experience of Customers who click on your content link. The domain of your display URL must match the domain of your destination URL, without any redirects. All Customers must be sent to the same destination URL and landing page from a click on your content link. Customers must not be sent to a landing page that generates a pop-up or pop-under. The landing page must allow Customers to navigate away from the page, including via the browser’s ‘Back’ button, and return to the page that the ad was displayed on. The end destination or landing page of a URL cannot be changed once a promotional link is clicked at any time.
Backlinking.
Any links intended to manipulate a site's ranking in any search engine results may be considered part of a link scheme. This includes any behavior that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site.
The following types of links are prohibited:
- Links originating from sites developed only to build links (i.e. “linking out”).
- Links received from irrelevant content or websites.
- Links from subjects and sites unrelated to hardlines, softlines, or design.
- Links acquired from sites that are not indexed by appropriate search engines.
- Links that are forcefully inserted in any comment section.
- Links that are hidden away in a website’s footer.
- Links that use ‘exact match anchor text.’
Deep linking is a preferred method for our Affiliate Program.
Deep linking benefits for Publishers and Article:
- Higher Conversion Rates: By making it easier for users to find what they need, deep linking can lead to higher conversion rates and more sales.
- Increased Revenue: Higher conversion rates translate to more sales and, therefore, more revenue for Publishers.
- Better User Experience: Deep linking can enhance the user experience and make it more likely that users will return to the merchant's website in the future.
Historical Content Policy
Publishers may not update content predating the commencement of this Agreement with an Affiliate Promotional Link if Article is already featured in the content. Article’s Affiliate Promotional Links are reserved for new placements. If any action occurs during the term of this Agreement with respect to content predating the commencement of this Agreement, Article reserves the right to reverse the action before the locking date of the action. All reversed actions will appear in Publisher reports with the reason for the reversal and are irrefutable. Article reserves the right to request a reversal to the original link at any time if it does not comply with the herein historical content policy.
Exceptions.
Exceptions may be obtained with express written permission from Article where there are required content updates to feature new product recommendations, with the intention to retain visibility in appropriate editorial or advertising content.
Unacceptable Content Policy
We prohibit our ads to be shared with any that contain shocking, sensational, violence, adult content, and profanity. We also prohibit other objectionable material, such as content implying or attempting to generate negative self-perception in order to promote diet, weight loss, or other health related products. To promote a positive user experience, the following types of content are strictly prohibited:
- Hate Speech & Discrimination – Any content that promotes or incites violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Harassment & Threats – Bullying, intimidation, doxxing, or any form of targeted harassment, including threats of harm or violence.
- Illegal or Harmful Activities – Content that encourages or facilitates illegal actions, including drug use, human trafficking, fraud, or other criminal activities.
- Sexually Explicit & Inappropriate Material – Pornographic, obscene, or sexually exploitative content, including child exploitation or non-consensual material.
- Violence & Graphic Content – Excessive gore, self-harm encouragement, or depictions of real-world violence without valid educational or journalistic context.
- Misinformation & Deceptive Practices – False or misleading information that could cause harm, including medical misinformation, fraudulent claims, or deepfakes intended to deceive.
- Spam & Malicious Content – Unsolicited promotional content, phishing scams, malware distribution, or any form of deceptive advertising.
- Intellectual Property Violations – Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of copyrighted material, trademarks, or proprietary content without permission.
- Impersonation & False Representation – Misrepresenting identity, affiliations, or credentials to deceive others.
- Politically Motivated Activities - Content that promotes extremist political ideologies, incites political violence, spreads propaganda, or otherwise disrupts a neutral and inclusive environment.
Local Legal Requirements. Publishers are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, industry codes and rules, including local legal and regulatory requirements.
Enforcement
Violation of these terms may result in content removal, program removal, or legal action, depending on the severity of the offense. We reserve the right to take appropriate measures to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Influencer and Content Creator Posting and Publication Requirements.
1. Comply with the Disclosure Requirements set out in the FTC Guidelines for Influencers.
2. Make only factual statements, including about Company and its products or services.
3. Reflect only honest and truthful opinions and actual experiences.
4. Comply with all applicable social media platform rules, terms of use and guidelines.
5. Immediately remove any Content at Company's request.
6. Only post or publish Content that is the original work and creation of Influencer, or Content to which Influencer has the sole and exclusive right to post or publish for the purposes hereunder. Influencer will not post or publish any third-party intellectual property, including but not limited to, Content, photographs, trademarks, logos, music or celebrity names, photos, images, voices, or other likenesses of an individual (whether famous or not) without the prior written consent of the individual or owner, as applicable, which consent Influencer may be required to evidence to Company, in a form satisfactory to Company.
7. Not post or publish any Content that promotes bigotry, racism or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age or other protected grounds under applicable human rights legislation.
8. Not make any statements that are disparaging, negative, defamatory, or potentially damaging in any way about Company or its products or services, or any third party.
9. Comply with all Company rules, regulations, and policies as applicable.
Article Employee Actions
Publishers will not be commissioned for any Actions conducted by Trademango Solutions Inc. DBA Article (“Article”) employees. If any Action occurs during the term of this Agreement with respect to employee purchases of Article products, Article reserves the right to reverse the Action before the locking date (within 45 days) of the Action. All reversed Actions will appear in Publisher reports with the reason for the reversal and are irrefutable.
Definition of an Action
An Action is defined as a completed purchase or qualifying transaction that originates from a unique, trackable affiliate link assigned to the Publisher. For an Action to be recognized and credited to the Publisher, it must be complete, valid, traceable and comply with the established terms and conditions (“Terms”).
