Company Presentation.
Back Market isn't just any e-commerce platform - it's a marketplace on a mission to give customers little to no reason to buy new electronics from their favorite brands like Apple, Samsung, Sony, and more. Back Market sells electronics that have already been used and then renewed by the pros. These renewed items include smartphones, computers, game consoles, tablets, household appliances, and more.
The quality of renewed items from Back Market is comparable to that of new items. Customers who shop Back Market can enjoy lower prices and help reduce e-waste. Back Market has already sold renewed items to more than 6 million customers in the 16 countries we currently operate in as of February 2022.
According to ADEME, buying a renewed smartphone instead of a new one:
Saves 92% of CO2
Saves 92% of raw materials
Uses 83% less water
Produces 88% less e-waste
Back Market partners with more than 1,700 (and counting) certified refurbishment professionals from across the world.
Important Customer Information
Price: Back Market items are 30% to 70% cheaper than new items. Prices can vary among items, grades, and sellers.
Grade: Customers can choose from 3 different item grades that measure the appearance of the item only. Every Back Market item must adhere to high technical condition standards regardless of appearance grade. Here's what appearance grades mean:
Excellent: The screen is in excellent condition and may have barely visible micro-scratches
Good: The screen is in good condition with only light signs of water
Fair: The screen may have visible scratches and/or dents, but they don't affect performance
Quality: Back Market partners with 1,700 Back Market refurbishers are professionals who have been verified and tested before selling on the platform. We ensure high levels of quality with our Quality Charter requirements and best practices.
Warranty and retraction period: Each Back Market item comes with a 1-year warranty or more depending on the country and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Some items come with even longer warranties.
Do's and Dont's
They do's to remember:
Our goal is to encourage customers to take part in the renewed movement, so don't hesitate to include interesting facts and insights about circular economy, planned obsolescence, and sustainable living
Include item variety as you know what kinds of items interest your audience the most, but don't forget that we offer more than just smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Sustainability is a serious topic, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun while getting our point across, so feel free to keep the topic light and entertaining.
It's Back Market, not Black Market or BackMarket
The don't to remember:
Don't push for sales by flashing low prices and special deals as we don't want to encourage customers to buy items they don't need
Don't use the word “certified”
Don't claim a Back Market item is “like new: or use the word ”new" in any description of the renewed item
Don't claim the item is cheaper without making a clear reference to new (e.g., “Items are up to 70% cheaper than new.”)
Don't use the reference prices without specifying that the reference price is new item, and when possible indicate the origin of this reference price (i.e., the manufacturer's recommended new price or the price observed in main distributors websites)
Don't use the word “discount” or equivalent when you want to express the price difference between selling price on Back Market and the price of a new item because Back Market is not a discount store
Don't imply that Back Market is a seller or a refrubisher
