We wish to treat our Affiliates in the same manner as we do our customers and our suppliers - with utmost respect and with an aim to foster long-term relationships. We are therefore careful to control the number of Affiliates we allow onto our programme, as to accept too many would result in us failing to meet the standards we expect of ourselves when dealing with any of our suppliers.
The criteria we use to select Affiliates are outlined below.
Site design
We strive for excellence in the design of our own site, and equally we expect similar standards on the sites on which we advertise. Briefly, for an Affiliate's site to be accepted we expect the site design to be considerate of people with disabilities, to look professional (although we accept that this can be subjective), and be easy to navigate. Sites that overload pages with too much information or use small font sizes are likely to be rejected. In addition, all sites should have clear terms and conditions and a privacy policy.
Ambiguous or misleading statements
We can only accept Affiliates who back any claims with easily found supporting information, for example in either help sections or FAQs. Cashback sites offering 100% cashback who do not clearly outline administration costs, or charity sites who are not transparent about how much commission goes to charities will also not be accepted.
Alignment with Lakeland's values
Lakeland is primarily a kitchenware retailer and so we will naturally ally ourselves to sites that emphasise kitchen products. Given our limited resources and our aim to foster long-term relations with our Affiliates, sites that focus on products other than kitchenware and home solutions are less likely to be accepted. Over time, we will revisit this policy but in the meantime we hope you understand our decision.
Voucher, discount and price comparison sites that overtly focus on price discounting are also likely to be declined. Lakeland's values lie in the quality of our products and our customer service. Our 3year guarantee ensures our customers complete satisfaction with their purchases, and sites that we feel unlikely to adequately communicate our values are likely to be rejected.
Expressions of personal opinion
Sites that express personal opinions on any topic (many blogs may fall into this category) may be declined. We hope you understand that we could not support sites that express opinions contrary to our own values or which may offend others. We acknowledge that the opinions expressed on your site (if any) may be inoffensive, but given that we are required to regularly check all sites on which personal opinions are published, we only have the resources to monitor a few such sites. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Language
Unfortunately we can only accept English language web sites. We acknowledge that there may be many non-English sites who would be otherwise eminently suitable to join our programme but, due to limited resources, we are unable to accept such sites.
Inappropriate content
Any site that has links to adult content, or expresses views that could be construed as offensive will be rejected.
Finally, Affiliates who do not provide sufficient information for us to adequately review their site(s), for example failing to provide URLs, will be automatically rejected.
